Faithfully Divided Takes Best Documentary Award!
Faithfully Divided played to an adoring audience in New York City at the 2009 Reel Sisters of the African Diaspora Film Festival after winning the festival’s coveted Best Documentary Award. The audience enthusiastically engaged filmmaker Paula Matabane in honest dialog about the urgent necessity of racial reconciliation in the world today and the role churches can play in creating that reality. Young people, especially, were intrigued by the filmmaker’s discovery of deep family roots including finding the grave of a former slave owner and his will placing a market value on her great grandfather.
